Blackjack is a game of numbers and odds. Playing with your gut feelings may seem like a sound strategy but again Blackjack is simply a game of numbers and odds and the urge to hit or bet based on your gut feeling should be avoided.

This is especially true with online casinos. Online casinos use random number generators which is even more evidence showing that blackjack is a game of numbers and not pure luck. One should never assume that the odds owe them a win. This is a common novice card player mistake. Playing with your gut automatically puts the game 6% in favor of the dealer.

Instead of playing with your gut instincts, you should develop a strategy instead. I've found after many games of black jack that the below makes a safe strategy that should net you quite a few wins. Remember, the main objective is to beat the dealer not the other players. Keep in mind that this is a strategy that I've found to work and a more daring strategy may be preferred by those with deep pockets while a more conservative strategy may suit those that need to be more cautious with their money.

If you are dealt a hand totaling between 5 and 8, always hit, you will not win a game with a hand like this, so you must hit.
If you are dealt a total of 9-11 and the dealer has less than 7, then hit.
If you are dealt a 12, hit if the dealer is showing a 2 or 3. If the dealer is showing a 4,5, or 6 you should stand. If the dealer has any other card, you should hit.
If dealt a 13-17, stand if the dealer has below a 7. Anything above a 7 and you should hit.

Stick to a similar strategy and improvise as you see fit. And most importantly, remember that Blackjack is a game. Enjoy yourself and ensure you have fun by not losing too much money.

The goal of Blackjack is to beat the dealers hand, not to beat the hand of the other players and the goal of the game is certainly not to get 21 at all costs. All you need to do is beat the dealer.

*Dealers Can Get Hot -

Dealers play based on the rules of the casino, not based on luck. Don't think that the dealer is going to make any bold moves or play mind games.

*I'm Due To Win" -

While luck is involved with any gamble, Blackjack is more of a game of odds and numbers. If you are continually losing, you'll probably continue to do so. Statistically speaking, a player will win about 48% of all hands over a very long period of time.

*The Deuce is a Sign Of a Winning Hand For The Dealer -

Yup, you guessed it, this Blackjack myth is false too. If you take the time to do the math you'll learn that a deuce is a weak card for the dealer to be showing. In fact, you're much less likely to win a game of Blackjack if the dealer is showing between a 10 or an Ace.

The common trend among all these myths is that Blackjack is a game of odds not luck and you have much more control over the outcome of a game, which sets it apart from most casino games. Play smart, and don't let your gut get the best of you, and the rest should be easy.

Forgetting to split your hand of cards in Blackjack is a common mistake, that many new players are never told about because a split isn't required for the game to go forward. But even though a split isn't a required move, it is in fact very important and can win you a lot more money.

You should never split your cards on a pair of tens. A 20 is about the closest you can get to winning and the odds of winning with a 20 are high. Always split your cards on double 8's. A 16 is just about the worst hand you can be dealt so there's really no harm in splitting this hand.

Never miss out on splitting a pair of Aces. This is by far the best hand you could have, always split a pair of aces. This is such a strong hand that many casinos require a person with a pair of aces to collect their money and leave the casino.

If a dealer is dealt a 5 or 6, you should probably split. A 5 or 6 is almost impossible to win with, so you might as well double your earnings.

A good rule of thumb is to split when the dealer is weak (between a 2 or 6) and to avoid splitting when the dealer is strong (8+). The only time I don't play by this rule, is when the dealer is holding a 7 or when I have a pair of 4's or 9's.

These methods have been proven to work for as long as Blackjack has been around. And statistically these rules will put you in favor of a win over the long haul. So don't stray from these guidelines, always put the odds over a gut feeling. Winning a game on your gut instincts may feel great, but losing on your gut burns even worse.
